In the early morning, our multilingual driver will pick you up at your charming hotel in Fez, to take you on the most memorable 4 days tour from fes to Marrakech via the Sahara Desert. We will cross the magnificent changing landscape of the Middle Atlas mountains and charming Berber villages.
The first stop on your 4 days tour from fes to Marrakech would be Immouzer, the small Berber village. We will take a break in the green city to stroll through the spectacular gardens and rivers. We would also have our typical breakfast, before going to Ifrane, “La Petite Suisse Marocaine”.
In Ifrane, you will be surprised by the fascinating natural views and the captivating cold rivers, it would certainly be the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of big cities. The next stop will be in Azrou, the ancient small town well known for its green tiled roofs, beautiful cedar forests, cherry trees and apples. We will have some time in the calm and cool cedar forest to see the older cedars, meet the Barbary monkeys, relax and get some fresh air.
Then we will head to Midelt The old Berber town of rocks, where we can taste a remarkable tagine of Berber vegetables or spicy barbecues. Our unforgettable journey continues through the high hills and charming rock formation as we begin to feel the start of the exotic Moroccan desert in itinerary of the Fes to Marrakech desert tours.
The last stage of our excursions in the desert of Fez is the formidable city of the Sahara, Merzouga. Upon arrival, we will take our camels on a memorable camel trek in the spectacular sunset and the beautiful golden dunes.
Our exotic night would be spent in a luxurious desert camp in the middle of the Sahara, warm in apricot tones, as we gather around the campfire, listen to the tropical music of the Sahara and watch the fascinating starry sky.
We depart early from Fez and begin the ascent into the Middle Atlas. We pass through Ifrane, a winter ski resort built by the French in the 1930’s to resemble a Swiss village. Further along the road we will pay a visit the cedar forests in Azrou you can spot wild Barbary monkeys. The drive continues across the Middle Atlas Mountains as we wind our way through forests, jagged rock faces, and Berber villages over the mountains, eventually beginning to descend towards the desert. We will stop for lunch in the town of Midelt, famous for its fossils and rocks, then we continue towards Merzouga. This offers panoramic views of the huge Ziz palm oasis. We will reach to Merzouga in the afternoon, and spend the night in a hotel near the Erg Chebbi Dunes.
After breakfast, we will start an adventure tour in our overland vehicle, of approximately half day in the desert, experiencing the different faces of the desert: sand dunes and expanses of black volcanic rock, and explore a cave where you can discover how the local people extract the fossils from the heart of the earth. We will pass through small villages and stop to drink mint tea and have lunch with a Berber family in their tent, along the same road used by the Paris Dakar rally. In the afternoon, your guide and camels will be waiting for you to start the camel trek across the sandy dunes of Erg Chebbi. Your guide will lead you through a different desert landscape and take you on top of the dunes enjoy the the sunset. After approx.About 1:30 hours you will reach the desert camp where we will spend the night in comfortable nomad tents. After dinner and mint tea,winter there will be a camp fire and silence in desert .
In the morning your guide will wake you up early to take a walk over the sand dunes and watch the sunrise from just behind the Algerian border. We take the camel back to the hotel, where you will have the opportunity to shower then and relax while enjoying breakfast. Mid-morning we leave on take road towards the Todra Gorges. We stop to visit Rissani, the town where the Alaouite dynasty established their current rule of Morocco, and the remains of Sijilmassa, an ancient center of desert trade for the caravans going to Timbukt. From here we continue West, passing through the Ziz valley, famous for the best dates in Morocco, reaching the gorges in the afternoon . We explore the natural of the Todra gorges, and then continue at our leisure to the Dades valley, having dinner and overnight in a traditional Kasbah.
After breakfast we’ll have another opportunity to enjoy the mountains, and then leave for our visit to the town of Ouarzazate, the Kasbah of Taourirt and the Atlas Studios movie studios, the largest and most famous of all Africa. We’ll also enjoy a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aid Ben Haddou, a famous village constructed in the tradional Kasbah style. From here we then take the famous Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass leading down to Marrakech over the High Atlas, stopping for lunch in a small village on the way. We will then reach Marrakech in the late afternoon for the end of the tour, dropping you off at your chosen Hotel or Riad.
